If you’re ever looking for an interesting place to go in the Southwest United States, you really should visit the White Sands National Monument in New Mexico, an hour north of Las Cruces.
White Sands is one of the world’s great natural wonders. At this spectacular site, 712 square kilometres of pristine, wave-like dunes of gypsum sand blanket the desert. In some areas deep in the national park, there is little or no vegetation to speak of, and other than the mountains on the horizon, endless dunes of white sand are all that the eye can see in each direction. And you can go sledding on the sand dunes. Fun for the kids and adults alike.
